We live in a fast-paced globalised world that is becoming more automated and interconnected. Students need to learn the skills to succeed in the jobs of tomorrow. YRTS is a high-tech innovative learning environment where teachers and students undertake Project Challenges and Design Briefs to discover STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), Design Thinking, Industry Context and Systems Processes. The Design Briefs incorporate technologies such as Robotics, Virtual Reality, Electronics, 3D CAD design software, 3D Printing, Arduino C-Programming, Raspberry Pi (Python Programming), Computerised Business Scenario Simulation gaming environment. An online learning management system provides comprehensive resources to teachers and students, thus enabling the conduct of blended and flipped classroom learning. The Project Challenges and Design Briefs are designed for Year 8, 9 and 10 students. Each Design Brief is designed to be run in a single school day - over the course of a few hours - for teachers and students to gain hands-on exposure to technologies, industry context, systems processes and soft skills practice.


Twenty local schools in the local precinct are Partner Schools to YRTS. Students undertake these Project Challenges by working in teams, and the projects help the students develop high-level transformative soft skills, namely:



The YRTS Program is designed, developed, maintained and delivered by are a small, talented, agile and innovative team comprising the Tech School Director, an Admin team of two persons, and a technology and learning Edutech team of three persons comprising a Solutions Architect (STEM) and two Facilitators.


We strive to design, develop and deliver Programs that are sophisticated and differentiated from the commonplace lessons and experiments used in home schools. Our desire is to inspire and upskill teachers so they pass it on to their students. Schools gain optimum benefit when they integrate the YRTS Program into their school lessons and program; and when they practice the discovery learning approach.

Dr Danny Tay

A professional with over 20 years of experience in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector who has worked across private/public sectors in four market segments in Australia (i.e. education, public-transport, carrier-grade telecommunications and industrial-grade software applications). I have worked across the solution lifecycle ranging from investment proposals, business development, account management, operations, design/build project delivery, and support maintenance contract. In an earlier work life, I was an academic at the National University of Singapore. I now lead a small, agile, imaginative, and innovative team at YRTS … seeking to make a big difference to STEM learning for our Partner Schools.




Senior Operations Administrator

Aniket Deshpande

I hold a MBA from Monash University, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and bring over 14 years of sales and customer service experience to YRTS. I am passionate about student engagement and technology. My Admin team liaises with the Partner Schools on teacher/student session bookings, and organise bus transportation for our Partner Schools if it is required. I am also the First Aid Officer and Fire Warden for YRTS. I take great pride in ensuring that all visitors to YRTS have a great experience with us. When not working, I enjoy learning languages, and am currently studying Mandarin and Chinese Culture.



Operations Support Officer

Morgan Noyes

I have 5 years of administrative experience in the Finance Sector, and moved into the Education Sector in 2018 year to work for YRTS. Having attended high school in the Yarra Ranges, I am excited to be a part of a local Tech School that is making a positive contribution to STEM education in the locality. At YRTS, I manage student bookings and enrolments, general administration and assist with the day-to-day admin support of classes. In my free time, I enjoy being with friends and family, attending local events and camping.

Greg Paynter

As a technologist, I am passionate about the potential that Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) has as an enabler of our digital future. In my role at YRTS, I lead the EduTech team in the design, development and delivery of Educational Technology and Learning Programs.

It is greatly satisfying to see students engaged and inspired in undertaking Project Challenges using industrial-grade systems and technologies. It is also rewarding to see students and teachers find the spark, get intrigued and catalyse further inquiry!

Matt Pattison

Back at the dawn of the internet from my attending the first talk that Larry Page and Sergey Brin gave about their new search engine Google, right up to my recent interest in self-driving remote control cars, I have always been enthusiastic about embracing new technology, and exploring the societal impacts of technological change. I am a Maths/Science teacher with 10 years of experience in Software Development and Engineering. I have a passion for guiding and facilitating students in their exploration of STEM, and developing new Project Design Briefs at YRTS. In my spare time, I enjoy showing my two daughters how to make their own computer games, and I also enjoy working on my self-driving model-car.

Shivneel Prasad

I hail from the Fiji Islands. I am enthusiastic about alternative energy, and exploring advancements in technology. I enjoy thinking-out-of-the-box, and it is my belief that anything that challenges us will improve us. I facilitate Student Discovery Sessions, and occasionally also take visitor groups. I am part of the Edutech Team and am involved in the development of YRTS Project Challenges. As part of our day-to-day activity, my colleagues and I in the EduTech Team strive to ensure that teachers/students in the YRTS Program finish the day with us learning something - fuelling their inquisitive minds. I have a great interest in Rugby Sevens and soccer.
